A stage of the Appenzell Alpine Trail

You start this impressive flora hike on the Schwägalp at the foot of the Säntis. You first hike over hill and dale up to the Chammhaldenhütte. Here you can enjoy a majestic view of the north face of the Säntis. You then cross charming moor and forest landscapes to Langälpli. From there, the trail climbs steadily up to the Kronberg.

The best way to get to this hike is by public transport. If you are traveling by car, we advise you to park your car in Jakobsbad and take the Appenzeller Bahnen to Urnäsch and then the PostBus to Schwägalp, the starting point of the hike. This way you can comfortably use the cable car for the descent after the hike.
