The Kronberg Valley Restaurant is officially open
Today, Friday, September 11, 2026, Kronberg AG is celebrating the official opening of the renovated valley restaurant. Together with guests from the worlds of politics, tourism, and business, the restaurant will be inaugurated and blessed according to Innerrhod tradition. Kronberg AG has invested approximately CHF 2.4 million in its culinary centerpiece in the valley.
Felix Merz, Managing Director, and Thomas Bischofberger, Chairman of the Board of Directors, guide the invited guests—including Hans Dörig, the project developer for the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, and Karin Brülisauer-Signer, President of the Grand Council—through the afternoon’s program. After the official welcome, they tour the building together, where guests learn about the offerings for groups, companies, and clubs. Following this, Father Josef Rosenast blesses the valley restaurant. The event concludes with the traditional call: the alpine blessing is proclaimed through a carved wooden horn—a powerful moment of reverence and humility.
From Renovation to the Finished Restaurant
The valley restaurant has been back in operation since May, and the final construction work was recently completed. The renovation was a necessary step for the Kronberg’s continued development: the building, constructed in 2011, had reached its capacity limits due to steadily rising guest numbers and crowd-drawing events such as the “ zipline-park ” and the “ fairy-tale-world .” The overall assessment after the first few months of operation is consistently positive. “The structural renovations and functional expansions complement each other perfectly, and the new, digitally supported processes have proven themselves exceptionally well in day-to-day operations after a brief adjustment period,” says Felix Merz, CEO of Kronberg AG.
More space, more comfort, more possibilities
Guests now have significantly more restrooms at their disposal, including spacious family restrooms in both the women’s and men’s sections. Behind the scenes, additional storage space makes the team’s daily work easier. The biggest benefit is the new upper floor: It is fully accessible and offers versatile, inspiring spaces for companies, clubs, and groups. This allows the valley restaurant to establish a strong presence even outside the peak season—for example, by hosting seminars, creative workshops, and team-building events that seamlessly combine indoor and outdoor activities with the Kronberg adventure experience.
Thomas Bischofberger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kronberg AG, is proud of the construction project, which was completed on schedule: “We deliberately invested the CHF 2.4 million in the long-term viability of our company. The new, efficient facilities have been very well received by our guests and our team. This lays the foundation for further high-quality growth.”
